About us

People who buy land and property, and give you a straight answer

Lucky Duck Real Estate buys land, development sites and houses directly from owners. Sometimes that means making an offer. Sometimes it just means an honest conversation about what your property could be.

What we do

We buy land and property for our own account: vacant lots, acreage, parcels with development potential, and houses that do not fit the usual listing process. We research the property, talk through the options honestly, and make a no-obligation offer when a direct sale is a good fit.

Lucky Duck Real Estate is the business name of North Texas Acquisition Group, LLC (NTAG), which has been buying property directly from owners since 2016. We are not a real estate brokerage and not a law firm. We work in Texas and a growing set of other markets.

How we try to operate

A few things we hold ourselves to

  • 01

    Plain English

We explain things the way we would want them explained to us, without jargon or fine-print games.

  • 02

    No pressure

We are not interested in talking anyone into a decision. Our job is to lay out the options clearly.

  • 03

    Honest about limits

We are not brokers or attorneys. When something is outside what we do, we will tell you and point you in the right direction.

  • 04

    We do what we say

Clear communication and follow-through. If we commit to something, we follow up.

The people

Who you’ll talk to

Before you sell land or property, it helps to know who is on the other end. Here is the team.

Photo of Beau Gumbert

Beau Gumbert

Founder

Beau founded NTAG in 2016 after more than a decade in real estate, and was named one of Fort Worth’s “40 Under 40” in 2021. He is known for treating owners like neighbors, not transactions, and there is a good chance you will talk with him directly.

Hayden Lane

Offers & Acquisitions

Hayden looks at the property and the numbers and puts together honest, no-pressure offers. He will tell you straight whether selling actually makes sense for you, and he will not push you toward a sale you do not need.

Christian Mockabee

Owner Liaison

Christian is often the first person you’ll reach. He listens to what you’re dealing with, answers questions in plain language, and helps you figure out the next step at your own pace.

Jack Wotta

Head of Title & Dispositions

Jack makes sure the paperwork side of a sale is clean and the closing actually goes smoothly. If there’s a lien, a question about who’s on the deed, or anything cloudy about the title, he sorts it out early so there are no surprises at the table.

John Paul Coomer

Partnership Director

John Paul builds the relationships that let us help more owners: agents, attorneys and local partners who point people our way when a direct sale makes sense. If we are not the right fit for your situation, there is a good chance he knows who is.

Patrick McCormick

Director of Software & Technology

Patrick keeps the behind-the-scenes tools running so the rest of the team can focus on people instead of paperwork. He is the reason your information stays organized and your questions do not fall through the cracks.

Greg Dean

Homeowner Advocate

Greg works with owners who are up against a deadline and are not sure what their options are. He will walk through what a direct sale could look like and help you understand the choices in front of you, calmly and without pressure.

Chris Cortez

Land Acquisitions

Chris leads our land buying. He is often the first person landowners talk to: he listens first, explains things in plain language, and helps you figure out a next step that fits your land and your situation.

Head of Human Resources

Harper oversees morale, enforces mandatory walk breaks, and greets everyone at the door. Officially Head of Human Resources; unofficially, the reason the office never misses lunch.

A few honest things up front

  • We are not a brokerage or a law firm. We buy property directly; we do not list it or represent anyone, and we do not give legal or tax advice.
  • There is no obligation. If we make an offer, you are free to say no. Reaching out does not commit you to selling.
  • We do not promise outcomes. We review the property and tell you honestly whether a direct sale looks like a practical option for you.
